EAR is a project by EFORT and has its legal basis in the Austria-based scientific non-profit association of EFORT-EAR.

EAR is a coordinating centre in a volontary cooperation of National Arthroplasty Registers, supports the development of national projects, supranational cooperation, for example, by process standardisation, and conducts scientific research focused on outcome research methodology.
